German Chocolate Pie
Monday ! National German Chocolate Day !!
1 9 in pie shell ( Baked)
1/3 C sugar
3 T cornstarch
11/2 C milk
1 4oz bar German sweet cooking chocolate
1 T butter
2 Beaten egg yolks
1 t vanialla
1 beaten egg
1 51/3 ounce can evaporated milk
!1/3 C flaked coconut
1/2 C chopped nut ( pecans)
In a pot stir together 1/3 c Sugar & cornstarch -stir in Milk,Butter & chocolate and Cook on Medium until it starts to thicken. Lower heat & cook 2 more minutes. Take off stove & slowly stir in 2 egg yolk- return to stove and bring to Boil. Let Cook 2 more minutes and then stir in vanilla. Pour this mixture into baked pie shell.
In another saucepan heat on medium -Beaten Egg,evaporated milk ,1/2 C sugar & 1/4 C butter. Heat until thick & bubbly - Add in Coconut & nuts. Then pore over Chocolate pie base and let cool.
When cool -place in refrigerator.
Its National Liqueur day ! And in Louisiana that means it Daiquiris time - my lemon lime recipe below: 2 C water...
